Annual Central European Bollywood Awards

Welcome to the website of the Annual Central European Bollywood Awards. The award is hosted by molodezhnaja.ch, the biggest German language Bollywood website with one of the most extensive review sections for Bollywood films found in Europe, as well as bollywoodforum.ch , the busiest Bollywood discussion panel in central Europe with many hundred users online throughout the day. The 2008 edition of the ACEBA attracted more than a thousand voters and the results therefore give an interesting and unique insight into the tastes and preferences of the German speaking Bollywood community.

Because molodezhnaja is a Swiss website hosted in German only, the award will also be a German language event. That means, there will be no English translations available during the voting process and votes from outside central Europe will not be counted. The results will be communicated in German and English at the beginning of May through various online channels as well as here on the website. Check back for further details.

For those who might wonder why you can vote for older films like "Taare Zameen Par": Here in Europe, we only get selected films in cinemas and we therefore strongly depend on DVD releases. Because we reject piracy in any shape or form, we have decided that only those films are eligible that had a) a wide release in cinemas across Germany, Switzerland and Austria or b) have been released on DVD. That is why films like "Taare Zameen Par" and "Saawarya" were left out from last year's voting and are eligible this year. As for this year, there are no major films that had to be postponed to next year's awards, because they were all released in time ("Ghajini" late on DVD, "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" in cinemas through rapideyemovies).
